| Support For Parents Of Children With Special Needs |

The parents of children with special needs network was established in 2006 and it’s a support network for parents who have a child with special needs. If you would like to receive support information and speak to other parents of children with special needs then this network is just the place for you. The development of this network will be guided by parents and therefore we are encouraging more parents to join. The network is currently meeting every two months but this is subject to how members decide to develop the network in 2009.
The Network hosted a very sucessful conference in October 2008. It was a regional event organised by Co Childcare Committees and Parent Networks in the South East. Recent Meetings
Carlow County Childcare Committee held a meeting for parents of children with special needs on 22nd April 2010. The topic of this meeting was on Rights and Entitlements and was facilitated by Carlow Citizens Inforamtion Centre. The meeting was held in St Laserian's school in Carlow. All those in attendace found the meeting very informative.
Our last meeting of the network was held on Wednesday 21st of October from 10am-12pm. The focus of this meeting was on Relaxation and Stress Relief. The network enjoyed a very relaxing morning with topics such as meditation, the use of essential oils and aromatherapy all explored on the day.
A network meeting took place on Thursday 28th May @ 7.30pm, in the Cathedral Parish Centre College Street Carlow. Dan Feehan gave a presentation at the meeting on Legal Issues for Parents of Children with Special Needs. The meeting was very well attended and parents found Dan's presentation very informative and helpful.
